Watford u16 turned out another resilient performance at RAF Halton on Sunday 9th Oct.

It was a first for Watford, attending the biggest rugby tournament for girls, with over 1600 girls playing. The day started with 4 group games and earned Watford a well deserved quarter final place.

In the group stages, Watford won three out of four games whilst gaining points for a no show from Banbury. Watford had a slow start to the day with a close loss to Buckingham with a final score of 10-7 leaving Watford feeling disappointed. Watford had two good wins against Finchley (17-5) and Old Albanians (12-10). The win against Old rivals OAs rejuvenated Watford for the quarter final against hometown rivals Fullerians who went on to play in the final. They beat Watford in a close contest where Watford gave a good account of themselves against a big Fullerians squad; the final score 5-0 reflecting the close contest. Overall Watford could have defended better but it was a game that could have gone either way.

As a result of their loss, Watford played Trojans FC in the plate semi final competition but with tired legs, as a result of a small squad, this was one game too many for the team from Watford. Trojans FC being victors 26 - 5.
