It is with great sadness that Watford learned that Barry Clements passed away on Tuesday, a great WRFC legend that will be missed.

Barry Clements was a stalwart of Watford Rugby Club. He epitomised the inclusive and social ethos that the Club is so rightly proud of.

It was his enthusiastic involvement in off-pitch as much as on-pitch antics that he will be remembered for – be it after matches, at social events (where his signature impression cannot be forgotten) and as a regular tourist (Those who were there will never look at a Cornish pasty in the same way again!). Or order a Chinese takeaway.

In the early 1980’s, he was instrumental in instigating, bringing together and managing one of the greatest colts squads that the Club has seen. He selflessly gave up his Sundays for some years as their Manager (and role model for some). He remained a loyal supporter of the Club after his playing career ended and was regularly seen at functions until very recently.

RIP Barry, our thoughts are with you and your loved ones.
