The weather may have been rainy, but the boys were smoking hot on the pitch today. Wait a minute, this is feeling like deja-vu....raining, at home, and another home win!
Our U13 squad continues to grow both in numbers and in strength. Today saw us play at home against Dunstablians, a team who we will meet later in the season at their home ground for a League match.
Watford dominated the whole match, with an impressive cache of tries in the first half with three scored by Cameron, one by Captain Max who was tackled just before the try line but managed to stretch out and get the ball down, and one by Aiden who made a great run, dodged a tackle and went on to score. At half time, Watford led 5-0.
The second half saw a rotation of players from our squad of 18 players. Aaron scoring three tries, hotly pursued by the opposition. Dunstablians managed to then get one on the score-sheet, but were denied several other opportunities, with Watford keeping them from their try line and turning over the ball. One final try from Cameron brought the final score to 9-1.
There was some great sportsmanship demonstrated on the pitch today by both teams. Dunstablians certainly didn't make it an easy win, but Watford were the stronger team on the day. We will look forward to a re-match with them at their home ground in March.
Player of the match was awarded to Jamie, who had a very strong game and showed grit and determination for the duration of the match.
