Not for the faint hearted

Watford and Old Grammarians are old friends at this age group, we also have a lot in common, low numbers, limited space and more fashionable clubs close by. So it was fantastic to see the pitches packed with youngsters when we arrived. I will take Late kick offs and limited warm up space(for both teams) for that.
We also benefited from OG's youth policy when ten minutes before kick off a young lad who's brother plays for the minis rocked up with his kit and asked if there was any chance of a game as his team had folded. As we only had 14 we where more than happy to give him a run out. And from what I saw Alex(sorry if I got your name wrong) will be a great asset to his new club.

With both teams now with 15 players the game started on a pitch that in racing circles would be classed as heavy/get the tractor ready for when they get stuck. It was unsurprising, given our recent form that OG's started the quicker of the two teams. Good p!ay from their pack saw them crash over to open the scoring inside the first five minutes. 5-0
Thankfully Watford reacted well hitting straight back, some good breakdown work and a great line from David, who dotted down to level the game. JC slotted the extras. 5-7.
Things then got a little bit strange when after more good work from the pack Charlie W was tackled on the 5 meter line, at which point the ref gave a try. Common sense prevailed with Watford being awarded a scrum on the five. Which we took full advantage of, a nice #8 pick and go from CW and the extras from JC. 5-14.
Despite several warnings from the ref for high tackles, we didn't listen and Jack was told to go and have a rest. OG's made the most of this scoring two converted trys . Watford then hit back just before half time with JC collecting a nice pass from Sam before showing the defence a clean pair of heel's to score. Extras added HT 19-21
The second half with out doubt belonged to OG's. Almost the entire half was played in the Watford half.OG's finally got the score they deserved with 10 minutes to go. 26-21
After the restart they immediately camped back in the Watford 22 for the next 8 minutes. In the same 8 minutes Watford gave one of the best defensive displays I have ever seen. To spend that amount of time in your own 22 without the ball and not concede a try or a penalty would have been enough for most teams, but to then turn the ball over in our own 22 with last play called and then have the game sense to play metre by metre up the pitch to level the score was huge, when JC added the extras to win, it just goes to show that while we don't start at the first whistle we certainly play to the last.
26-28
