A big well done to our newly formed U13 girl’s team. With 3 of our 9 having never played a game before we joined forces with 5 Aylesbury girls (2 of them had never played either) to make a Baa baas team and calling themselves Waylesbury.
First up Fullers.
We started very well, keeping the ball and going through many phases, only for the more experienced Fullers girls to score 2 breakaway tries. We came out in the second half the same as the first but this time we were rewarded with 2 well worked tries. We then had a try disallowed and conceded a late try, to go down 3-2. Both teams played some tremendous and very entertaining rugby.
OA’s next. This was a high intensity game, played with a lot of passion. Our rucking and mauling was superb and this enabled us to take a 2 try first half lead. Unfortunately the second half was marred by some questionable refereeing decisions, including one of our girls having to leave the field for a 'cool down'. This changed the course of the game and they were able to score 3 tries.
Finally, we played a combined Datchworth and Harpenden team. In another high-intensity, well contested game, they were just a bit too strong for us, but we kept our heads held high and showed some good determination and a never give up spirit.
The girls can be very proud of themselves. Playing some powerful attacking rugby and defending like a pack of Lionesses. They performed incredibly well in some very tough games and came through with flying colours.
With our new players and a couple of experienced players due back, things are looking rosy for our hungry Lionesses team!
