Watford 2nds v ucsob

On a lovely Saturday afternoon Watford 2nds prepared to do battle against a experienced ucs side. Before ko Watford skipper Hicks pulled up with a groin injury and was unable to start with that a slight re jig and the 2nds coach mr Lee was put in to start much to his anger.

The game started and in classic Watford style we conceded first with a well worked try from ucs centre 0-5 after just 5 minutes. 3 minutes later there centre did it again 0-10 both conversions missed.

With stand in skipper Beynon rallying his troops and ordering Watford to up there game Watford answered after a fine scrum and some good hands down the line the ball found its way out wide to gullin who managed to ride a tackle and somehow avoid the line to slide over in the corner 5-10 and game on. With watford raising there game debutant Freddy cut a delicious line to cut through ucs but was brought down just before the line. number 8 Mezz picked up from the back of the ruck and dotted over with the extras missed 10-10. Next up tackling machine Ben Wilson took a lovely line from fullback to put Watford in the lead for the first time in the game keelan slotted the kick 17-10 and the half time whistle was blown.

With the second half starting Watford knew they just needed to keep up there dominance they showed in the last 20 of the first half. but ucs were not ready to lay down just yet they threw the sink at Watford and after some superb defensive work in particular fishers several face tackles and p. Wilsons good work in the ruck Watford breathed a sigh of relief as they were able to clear there lines and reset. We upped it once more and this time p.wilson slid over to put a bit breathing space between themselves and ucs 22-10.
Even with Watfords great defence ucs would score again to make it 22-15. This only angered Watford with gullin receiving treatment for a head knock injured hicks came on receiving the ball at 10 he scanned the pitch left and right he saw his front row buddy bees and unleashed him with a lovely pop beesy put it down to stretch the score to 27-15 keelan added the extras 29-15. Next up in form winger Clancy got himself on the scoresheet 3 try's in 3 games for the youngster 34-15 The next try was scored by new Spanish recruit Freddy who ran another lovely line off of Mezz who drew a man then popped a delicious pass behind his back to Freddy to score under the sticks with keelan adding another 2 points 41-15.
