Letchworth 3rds v Watford 2nds

Watford travelled to letchworth looking for their first win of the season.

Watford started the game the stronger of the two sides with their pack giving them a solid platform to work from with some superb scrummaging. sadly after just a few scrums lechworth lost their prop to a injury and the scrums went uncontested. Watford used their game plan to full effect and after a series of drives from the forwards the backs then passed the ball down the line and Bennett popped the ball out wide to portway who finished in the corner 0-5. Watford then attacked again and once again watfords dangerous backs showed there skill to devastating effect with Portway once again finishing out wide 0-10.
With Watford looking for another letchworth broke on the counter and there winger dotted down under the posts 5-10. Just before the break Watfords scrum half and man of the match hill used great vision to dink a lovely kick over the oppositions heads and winger WIlkinson was able to gather and slide in watfords 3rd try of the afternoon 15-7.

The second half started with Watford showing some good defence with flanker Giddings in particular putting in some great hits and turning over the opposition on a number of occasions. Watford attacked again with several good pick and drives from pack members reeve and Hancock and Hill superbly switched the play to skipper Hicks who popped to Wilkinson running a lovely line to go over for his second of the game A.Routley added the extras 5-22. Letchworth then scored another of their own with there prop driving over from close range 10-22. The game was put to bed with fly half Hopkins getting his reward for a fine afternoons work with a sublime dummy to go under the sticks and take the score to 10-27.
