Colts shine as Watford 2nds continue their fine form

Words from George Hicks:

Watford arrived at Royston expecting a tough game and that was exactly what they got. Royston started the better of the two sides and Watfords defence needed to be strong as Royston's forwards surged towards Watfords try line and it was just that with some fine tackling and great ability to disrupt and steal Royston's ball at the ruck from watfords back rowers and debutants Ciaran and 17yr old Blair Wingate . However it was Royston who drew first blood with some good work from their scrum half and he scored In the corner 5-0 with 20 minutes gone. Watford responded well and after some good forward play fly half Harris used his superb footwork to dance through 2 tackles and score under the posts and also converted to make it 5-7 just before the break.

Watford started the 2nd half just how they finished the 1st and Watford broke down the wing with young winger bellis showing great strength and vision to offload to supporting flanker Gilmore to make it 5-14 to Watford. Watford attacked again with debutants Rogers and Stewart coming off the bench and causing Royston many problems especially when Stewart picked up the ball in his own half and ran through several Royston tackles showing incredible strength and offloading to centre portway who then popped to Wingate to score under the posts with Wilson adding the extras 5-21. Watford weren't finished and Gilmore who has been in scintillating form so far this season finished a fine backs move to score his second of the game and his 5th of the season Harris added the conversion 5-28 . Watford still had time to score a final try with prop Stevens going over after some more good work from watfords young tenacious backs and making it 5-33 to Watford
