Watford U9's welcomed Southgate on a nippy Sunday morning!

Fionn McGuinness27 Jan - 20:10

Watford U9 invincibles shone on both sides of the ball, producing an overall impressive performance as they hosted Southgate for a thriller of a match

Match Report Written by Coach JR:

Another great weekend for the Invincibles as we welcomed Southgate to our ground. It was a tough day at the office for them from the opening whistle.
Reuben was outstanding in attack, showing great stepping and pace throughout the game. Leo was like a hot knife through butter, constantly cutting through the defence and looking completely untouchable. Leo takes the award for most tries in the match.
Defensively, William and Jack pushed the defensive line hard, making it difficult for the opposition to build any momentum. Panic began to set in, and Southgate were forced into wild passes, resulting in several turnovers. Sulita was quick to pounce, securing the ball and giving our attack extra opportunities. Jack made a number of cracking tackles during the game, showing no fear. For his defensive effort, he earns the Best Defender award this week.
I am genuinely proud of the team, who made light work of an opposition that could easily have thumped us on another day. The Try of the Week goes to Shai, who steamed down the sideline and got the ball down just before being pushed into touch. It was great composure to make sure the ball was grounded over the try line just in the nick of time.
Player of the Week could have gone to anyone, as everyone put in a strong performance, but this week it goes to Max. After being handed off (not allowed), he bounced straight back into the attack and scored a try while still hurting. Then, on the very next play, he made a crunching tackle on the same player. I’m sure I heard a thump as the player hit the ground at least a metre back from where Max started the tackle.
