Wow, it’s time for the match report! I don’t think I can really describe how good our team played. From the first game the team was on fire! I have to give credit to Aylesbury- they are a great club with a very nice setup. They also had some exceptional players and at times it took most of our team to take them down. What comes to mind on defence was the courage and sheer determination from Watford and working as a team to stop the trys. There was a few times their big player broke through like a Rhino only to be taken down by Shai.
Quite a few good turn overs tackling players out of the line. The defensive line rush got led by Willian almost evertime calling for a defensive line and the push. Amazing work by the whole team. We could not be more proud of the shift that the team has put in.
The attack was exceptional, we passed the ball and used options ran support lines, we stayed connected on attack. Max was a scoring machine and offloaded to others when they were in good positions to receive on the support lines. Reuben was a hot stepper breaking ankles and making it very hard for the opposition to get their hands on him. William was cool and collective picking out runners and getting the ball moving. Leo was lighning as always and it was almost a certainty when he got the ball, some great speedy runs from him.
We have done relatively good with the running and passing but we still need to work a bit on implementing our game plan to come round the corner in the same direction 2 or 3 times and then spreading the ball wide in the other direction. We will do a bit more this week to make sure we know how to set up our attacking line.
Best team player award: Max scoring the most tries and having the most assists this week.
Best defensive player this week is William for organising the defensive line and pushing on the rush defence.
Best try award was Reuben when he stepped four players. Aylesbury gave him an award for the coaches player from Watford.
Player of the week goes to Sulita. The courage to tackle players twice her size and when she got hurt doing it, she got back up and gave it all again without hesitation.
Well done guys and gals! You definitely showed why you are called the *Invincibles*
