In their second league match of the season, the Pinford U14 cluster (Pinner and Watford RFC) took on a formidable Staines side, eager for redemption after last season’s narrow defeat. Pinford set the tone from the opening whistle with a solid defensive effort, quickly turning over possession. Their early dominance paid off as they launched into attack, showing great composure and teamwork culminating in a well-deserved early try.
Staines responded with intensity, but the Pinford boys stood firm, maintaining their defensive shape while showing excellent rucking skills. The forwards and backs combined well, drawing in the opposition and using effective offloads to create space for their teammates. Their set pieces were well-executed, and open play was dynamic, keeping Staines on the back foot.
Despite Staines’ resilience and a late try in the first half, Pinford remained composed and focused. Their all-around performance both in defence and attack, allowed them to keep control of the game and secure a convincing first league win of the season.
It was a commanding performance from Pinford, a testament to their hard work and teamwork.
