It is with great sadness that Watford learned that Mark Trude passed away on Monday afternoon, following his battle with cancer.

Joining mid-way 2014-15 season, Mark made a huge impression during his time as Head Coach of WRFC’s senior section, both on and off the field.

On the pitch, he guided both the 1st and 2nd XV to promotion in the 2016-17 season whilst also steering the 1st XV to the final of the County Cup in 2016.

Off the pitch, Mark’s greatest contribution to the club was undoubtedly establishing the end of season players dinner, a tradition which will certainly continue for many years.

A true rugby man with a great affection for Watford, ‘Trudey’ will be sorely missed by all those both inside and outside of the game who were fortunate enough to know him.

All at Watford would like to express their sincere condolences to Mark’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Extract taken from Trudey’s ‘The Team’ Feature Nov 2016:

The best thing about WRFC is.....?

The whole community thing, its great to see young and old down to watch every week, drinking and enjoying themselves, most of all looking out for each other. It’s a great club to be involved in. Watford RFC. I love you all.
