Watford Rugby Club is delighted to announce that Scott Menzies has been appointed Club Captain for the 2026/27 season.
Entering his 29th season at the club, Scott is a true Watford RFC stalwart whose commitment and contribution have spanned almost every aspect of club life. Over the years, he has represented the club as a player, coach, First XV captain, Fixture Secretary and Coaching Co-ordinator, and after joining the committee last season, he has continued to demonstrate his passion for driving the club forward both on and off the field.
Speaking about his appointment, Scott said:

“I’m honoured to be selected as Club Captain for the 2026/27 season. Having spent 29 seasons at Watford RFC, I’ve always wanted to continue giving back to the club that has played such a big part in my life. Following my first year on the committee, I felt the Club Captain role was the best way for me to become more involved while remaining heavily engaged with the playing side of the club.
I believe this position will allow me to best support our First and Second Team captains, coaches and, most importantly, our players. Over the last few years, I’ve been heavily involved in rebuilding the senior squad following the challenges of Covid, and I’m excited to continue that progress alongside the management team and help drive what promises to be a successful season ahead.
In addition to my role with the senior section, I’ll continue assisting coaching within the junior section and acting as a familiar link between our juniors and seniors. Building on our ‘One Club’ family ethos remains incredibly important to me, and I’m looking forward to supporting the continued growth of the rugby while helping progress exciting developments such as the planned solar and floodlight projects, which will benefit both rugby and the wider running of the club.
While my focus will be weighted towards supporting the senior section, as a committee member, I will always be available to any member of the club who needs support, guidance, or simply wants to speak with a committee representative. I’ll be around the club as much as possible on training days and both Saturdays and Sundays (where possible) and look forward to seeing everyone throughout the season.”
