Having represented Watford RFC for 18 years, Luke’s appointment is a proud moment for someone who has grown up playing his rugby at the club. Captaining a Watford side has always been an ambition of his, and he now gets the opportunity to lead the 1st XV into the new season.

Luke is excited about the balance of youth and experience within this year’s squad and believes the group has what it takes to challenge for silverware this season.

On his appointment, Luke said:

“It’s always been an ambition of mine to captain a team at Watford Rugby Club. I didn’t think it would take 18 years into my playing career, but I’m delighted the opportunity came up and that people believed I had what it takes to be a good captain.

“I can’t wait to see what this season holds for us. We’ve got a really good balance of ages within the squad, and I genuinely believe we can go on and win some silverware this season.

“It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to lead the boys out this year, and I’m very excited to get started. WRFC.”
