Watford through to Quarter Finals of County Plate.

From the kick off and for the next 5 minutes Tring were camped in the Watford half, but resolute defending from Watford paid in the end as from turn over ball at the ruck it was quickly passed out to the backs who moved up-field into the Tring half but unfortunately dropped the ball over the try line leading to a scrum. From the scrum Watford’s pressure led to another turnover from which no.8 Miles picked up and drove over the line for Watford’s first try. This was followed shortly by a break through try from Shakur with a jinking run he evaded three tacklers to score. The Watford flankers, Connor and Harun, ran a mock and tackled any Tring player with the ball. Watford proceeded to pressurise and this allowed Ike, Mo and James R to make storming runs up-field, from one of these runs, home debutant Harry I was able to score. There was a constant battle going on in the rucks and Scrums between our front three, Andrew, Dan, Ben Sands, securing us the ball which allowed us to get the ball out to Shakur who scored his second try of the game. Tring scored a quick converted try near the end of the first half. At half time the score was 24-7 to Watford thanks to Ben Stevens converting two of the four tries. With changes made at half time Watford carried on in the try scoring vain with a try from Mo created by quick ball from Ollie N. Straight from the kick-off Watford scored again with the best try of the game from James S thanks to good work from the Watford back row who moved the ball up the blind side and offloaded to James on the half way line who ran forward and stepped inside two Tring defenders to score under the post. Tring fought back and scored an unconverted try. Once again Watford came back with strong runs from Matt, Louis and John. Watford scored again with Shakur’s third and final try which was converted by Jordan. Not long afterwards the ref blew the final whistle. Good news for Watford is Ollie D’s hand injury sustained while tackling the Tring winger is not serious so for next week’s league game we have a fit and healthy squad of twenty one players to pick from next week.
