Watford V Old Verulamians
By Clare Rose
Is there a pie at the end of the rainbow?
Today was a game of two halves.
The first half saw us miss a couple of fantastic opportunities, the rain not helping to keep hold of the ball. Both sides were equally matched but OVs kept their game simple and executed their moves well. By half time, Watford were trailing 4-0.
The team talk seemed to work at halftime, with the sun making an appearance and a rainbow of inspiration appearing over the team - maybe not quite a pot of gold but a few gems of wisdom from the coaches???
Second half was far more successful for Watford. OVs scored an additional two tries, then lost possession to Bradley who sprinted the length of the pitch, evading a two separate tackles from the opposition to score our first try. This seemed to give the team a huge boost, with the second try coming from Peter shortly after, followed by a third try from Aaron, who scored our own version of an "Az Splash".
Both teams came together in the clubhouse following the match for presentations. Watford's player of the match was Luke, who made a big contribution throughout the match.
