A beautiful day in St Albans, more reminiscent of a July afternoon than latter part of September saw Watford Seconds lose to The Oa's 'Grizzlies' who recently celebrated their 20 year anniversary.
A bare 15 went over and gave a fantastic account of themselves, especially in the 26 degree heat for 80 minutes!
The game started well with a great try from new recruit, Luigi Cirigliano. Cirigliano dummied and went through a gap before chipping the fullback to score.
The Grizzlies then responded with some quick fire tries of their own to put Watford behind on the score sheet.
Having realized that keeping the ball alive as much as possible, Watford began to play some nice rugby with the ball in hand, which resulted in the returning George 'Pie' Hicks crashing over in the corner following some neat interplay between the Watford pack.
OA's duly responded with some tries of their own due to some disconnected Watford defence. Tullett then scored a characteristic try as he scythed through the defence untouched to score under the posts just before the half.
Watford scored 2 more direct tries to tighten the game up, 1 through the very, very direct running of Andy Lee, who sent one OAS player into orbit on his powerful run, before regathering the ball and scoring.
The other through the returning Andrew Cutler, who showed great power to get over the line.
2 missed opportunities from Fish (chased down by a prop!) and Hadyn knocking on in the try area!!!!! Saw OA's take a 45-27 win. A deserved win but the scoreboard didn't quite reflect the game on this occasion!
