Words from George Hicks
Watford 2nds didn't need much motivation for this game as Weston came to Radlett road. As last time these two sides met Watford were blown away. But that wasn't going to happen again Watford started well and there pack showed they meant business with some solid and powerful runs with out of position Williams shipping the ball out quickly to skipper Hicks who managed a lovely pop to silver who then gave the final pass to young and nippy winger Rogers who scored in the corner 5-0. Watford continued there dominance and attacked again and only because of some fine tackling and the ability to steal ball in the ruck from Weston prevented Watford from adding to the score. But eventually Watford did score again just before the break. Watford's prop Routley making a cracking break taking several tacklers to haul him down just short of the try line thankfully superb support and quick thinking from Hicks allowed him to pick it up and drive over the line from close range 10-0.
Weston tried there best to get back In the game in the second half but Watford showed they wanted this win with some good play at the breakdown and some strong tackling. Weston then were reduced to 14 men with there hooker being binned for killing the ball several times . Watford went on the attack again and this time prop Routley finally scored his first try for Watford Making it 15-0. Weston got there reward in a close and tough game and scored from a quickly taken penalty with 5 minutes remaining and the game finished 15-5 to Watford .
